Why is the movie Adipurush doomed to fail?

Extremely poor VFX

Though the VFX is told to have been fixed, but it is hardly up to the mark. To be honest, the VFX is dreadful. Prabhas who appeared flawless in Bahubali is appearing below average. It is the VFX that is making him look so ordinary. All other characters are also not very pleasing to the eye. Barring Kriti Sanon, no one is looking the part.

Poor Writing

The writing of the movie seems to be very average. The holy epic whose every line is considered sacred cannot be presented with weak writing. The dialogues appear very weak. When I saw the original Ramayana for the first time, the heavenly voice of Arun Govil swept me away. I was so enamored with the voice that it kept looping in my head for a long time. Such was the casting and attention to detail in the original Ramayana. Here, Prabha’s voice appears more of a great warrior but as we know lord Rama is as much an embodiment of goodness, humility etc. as he was of courage and strength. It seems the movie is rushed through and is not given the time and attention it should have been given.

Poor Casting

The casting looks weak. Laxman’s character in particular looks very weak. Also, Saif Ali Khan, I believe is an overrated and a very limited actor. He is good in few genres only and he has already done lot of such movies. He enacts evil with being clownish. His character in Tanhanji was a classical example of a casting goof up. He appeared a person who is forcefully trying to be cruel. With him, everything appears forced and structured and not natural.

Initial hype is PR made

I get a feeling that the filmmakers have accepted that the movie is going to flop. PR has been set into motion to give it a massive opening before the true feedback comes out in public domain. That is why I believe the movie can open well but the content will bring it down sooner.

Will Pathan be a hit?

It’s been only 2 days for the release of Pathan and the hysteria is simply building big with each passing day. I don’t know if the controversies surrounding the film have benefitted or dented it, but I think that people have now started speaking up against all the nonsense they were earlier simply ignoring or not giving a hoot. For each vocal hateful person, I believe we have many well-minded people who were earlier silent. I just believe the good people have now become more vocal and have taken charge for good. I think SRK is going to become the No.1 star again for the following reasons:

SRK represents all things good

We very well know that the controversies around his movies are nothing but the manifestation of hatred towards him. We know how he has been deliberately targeted. Any sane minded person (fan or otherwise) can look through the designs of such hate campaigns. However, the problem with hate is that it is not intelligent. It is often plain stupid and self-destructive. I believe now we are entering a stage where the negativity is being exposed for what it is. Positivity will take over. And is taking over.

SRK is not just an actor. Pathan is not just a movie

SRK represents an ideology. He is the definition of success. He is all things good. So, consequently, he is the only one (or I would say most qualified) who can fight this hate. If what I believe is correct (that people are becoming smart and are seeing through hate and are fed up with it and are willing to stand with good) then there is no one better than SRK to place their bets on. A success of Pathan will be viewed as the defeat of negativity that has apparently engulfed Bollywood.

Only SRK can save Bollywood

With all the right credentials, I believe SRK is very well placed to resurrect himself as the biggest superstar of Bollywood. His haters have only reinvigorated his fanbase. I think the more he is targeted, the bigger he will become. Compared to all the other actors (no offence meant), he seems to be the one who can ride the Bollywood out of this storm. And most of us so dearly want him to be successful in that.

SRK is making a comeback to cinema after 4 years with a mass entertainer. His haters have already created controversies around the movie which is best not to be talked about. Talking about the controversy amounts to giving it cognisance which is a sheer waste of intellect. So, let’s begin by talking about the trailer. To me, the trailer looks very promising, in particular, SRK’s dialogue delivery is awesome. I always wondered why he didn’t do action movies which were being so successful for the past few years. Many actors, such as Salman, Ajay or Akshay were dishing out these masala entertainers, and the films were working. I understand, SRK wanted to not jump into the bandwagon and create what he felt would appeal to the audience. He experimented with movies like Fan (which I believe should have at least been a hit if not a blockbuster) but audiences were somewhat not very forthcoming. Fans of SRK who are questioning about his movie choices now (sticking to formula films) must question about their own movie choices when it comes to movie consumption or the larger interest of the India movie goers. SRK is creating what works and he will certainly infuse his magic in even a commercial potboiler.

The problem with SRK is his acting skills. He aces both commercial as well as artistic roles way to well. Remember he comes from a theatre background. Now he has become a world-renowned superstar but deep within I think he is still a theatre actor. And people know this. This seems to be a problem-of-plenty to me for both SRK and audiences (his fans) alike. He seems to be too good for a commercial masala entertainer in which probably a Salman or Akshay would perfectly fit in (given their limited acting prowess). Also, when he does an off-beat experiment, it doesn’t fit well with the grand image of the biggest superstar in the world. So, what does SRK do?

As a fan, if you ask me, then I would want SRK to do masala entertainers. Remember, successful people don’t do different things, they do things differently. I bet if SRK would have done action movies when Salman was taking off with movies like Dabang, he would have had many hits under his belt. He is a true actor who can ace any role with conviction. I just wish SRK stops experimenting too much and sticks to formula films because am sure the actor within him will shine bright even in a formula film. He needs to do justice to his acting skills as well as the grand image of the superstar. And I hope that he does.
